How To Fix Your Hose For Your Safety

A damaged, loose, or badly fitted gas hose can cause leakage. Always inspect your hose before use and replace it immediately when it shows signs of wear.

  • Turn off the cylinder valve before touching or adjusting the hose.
  • Check for cracks, burns, holes, stiffness, or loose hose ends.
  • Use the correct hose size for your regulator and burner inlet.
  • Secure both ends tightly with proper hose clips or clamps.
  • Apply soapy water around connection points after fixing and watch for bubbles.
  • Replace old hoses regularly and never use tape as a permanent repair.
Important: If bubbles appear during a leak test, turn off the gas immediately and refit or replace the hose.

  • Keep paper, curtains, cloth, and other flammable items away from burners.

  • Always light the match or igniter before turning on the gas burner.
  • Turn off the burner and cylinder valve after every use.
  • Keep children away from cylinders, regulators, and burners.
Never: Use phones, switches, matches, or open flames if you suspect a gas leak.

Emergency Procedures

Fast action can reduce danger during a gas leak or fire. Stay calm, avoid sparks, and move people away from the affected area.

  • Turn off the cylinder valve immediately if it is safe to do so.
  • Open doors and windows to allow gas to escape naturally.
  • Do not switch lights, appliances, or electrical devices on or off.
  • Move everyone away from the area and avoid inhaling gas fumes.
  • Call emergency services or a qualified gas technician from a safe distance.
  • If fire starts, evacuate immediately and contact the fire service.
Emergency: Do not return to the area until it has been declared safe by a qualified professional.
